Sup BADASS! Here are the contest winners! All info below is typed by Huskelbullen
Hello there lads and lasses!
Max here to give you the long overdue announcement for the fan art contest winners.
I initially wanted to do something a tad bigger for this, but due to time constraints I've had to limit myself. Before I get into who won the contest, I would just like to express how happy I am with all of the submissions. I didn't think this thing would get as much attention as it did, so I wasn't prepared for how much work and dedication you guys would put into this project. You are are just plain awesome.
All of the submissions for the contest can be found here. CHECK EM OUT WILL YA!
Now let's move on to more important matters. Namely the winners.
3rd place: Brunhilt Vs. Annagedon (2013), by iconLaNora-84
This piece displays an incredible attention to detail, trueness to the characters, mythos and esthetic style of the comic, with some slight creative flavors added by the artist to give it a distinct and unique look, without straying to far from the original source material. I especially like the weapon Brunhilt is wielding in this one, just a big, mean looking thing that suits her quite well. Seriously, where can I buy me one of those things? The characters look awesome, the surroundings looks awesome, hell, it just looks awesome. This is easily one of my favorite submissions, and earns a well deserved position at the number three spot.
2nd place: Brunhilt by Red--fox, by red--fox
Now this is a guy that went above and beyond. Rather than drawing the character in its familiar conan-esque style and look, the artist opted to present a variation on the character's design with a unique, almost post apocalyptic flare. In the hands of a lesser artist this would have been a very risky approach to reinterpreting an admit-ably obscure character, but with a lot of effort, ingenuity and forethought going into it, red--fox managed to pull this of. I mean, just freaking look at Brunhilt in this one. She looks like something straight out of Fallout. And the redesign of her sword "Salt" is phenomenal. With high risk comes high reward, and this one deserves to be rewarded with the number two spot.
And the 1st place winner is: Beer?, by jaggudada
My jaw freaking dropped when I saw this one. The lighting, the arrows, the scars, the beer glass, the look of slight annoyance on Brunhilts face. It's just awesome. Reinterpreting the character in a more realistic yet impressionistic style, the artist managed to capture the rough and tumble nature of Brunhilt to a T. He even put in one of the red trees from Stonesheimn in the background. That's doing your homework right there. With impeccable precision and beautiful brutish force, “Beer?” by jaggudada plants itself on to first place like a battleaxe plants itself into a skull.
A quick reminder of what these lovely people are getting for their efforts. Here are the prices they won.
